Fables of our city
Semester review of the works of the School of Engaged Art (June 15 – 16, 2018)
All the viewing works were united by one theme – this is the theme of a “fable” – a certain type of story with a final evaluation / moralizing conclusion. We (tutors) of the School offered to try together to learn to tell simple stories and see what conclusions from them can follow for us, and our societies.

In the parallel reality of sleeping areas, where the leg of the well-to-do classes does not go, a dull routine of life unfolds daily in the network of Dixy supermarkets. Weeping children, animals on a leash, periodic scandals and rudeness, general chronic fatigue – that’s it the reality of the Dixie universe. A positive view can discern in the Dixy supermarkets the manifestation of all the unifying ritual of domestic consumption and the search for comfort in the pacifying routine of everyday life. The team of the authors Soea’18 decided to present their own interpretation of these realities in the format of a network of fables that will help to take a fresh look at the usual process of going to the universal store.
