A series of self-portraits in search of identity – “Ya-russka”.
How strongly in the person aspiration to self-identification? Whether always the first impression – the most true? And why it is simpler to point differences, than to accept another it what it is? To separate grains from a ryegrass I decided to plunge into search of the national roots, and also to understand that I am identified by surrounding
people.
The work representing a series from 8 self-portraits – 8 the having real reasons and fantaziyno the nationalities (the Pole, the Lithuanian, the Korean, the Japanese, the Sami, the Mongol, the Tatar, the Kazakh woman) attributed to me became a result of a research. Together they form the system reflecting my subjective view on how people around can objectively perceive me if they are able to stop a moment. But I in process, I – changeable whole, but not separate parts. I am soup, a flat dish of historical broth of ancient Russia where for thousand-year history the people mixed up so that mother don’t grieve.
