About one of the key problems in aesthetics: the reasons humans are attracted to spectacles that destroy or degrade what they imitate, and generally depict violence, suffering, and fear. This problem will be investigated from the historico-philosophical angle, from Plato to Adorno and Girard, with the help of some artworks.
