TV screens buzzed with hypnotically looped propaganda messages about better future, strong state, confidence in the days to come. But could we really, recognizing the increasing vulnerability of our position in the “stable” world, believe them?

We created a performance which was an experiment for us. Coming out onto the street, we picked up chalk and began to fill the asphalt with a canvas of rhythmically repeated phrases. Finding words an average man would understand, words that can create an illusion of well-being and inspire hope, we were winning the road from the urban space meter by meter, we kept out of the way of the cars, watched the words erased under the wheels and continued to write.

It was important for us to know whether we were able to believe in the likeness of a perfect, “reliable” world in a space doomed to inevitable destruction, where we dwell beyond security and comfort.

At the end of the performance that lasted for 2.5 hours we inscribed over a stretch of road measuring about 200 sq m.

Based on the emotional state of the participants, it may be concluded that the selected public space gave a feeling of “home, cosiness, comfort”, it became conducive to ill-founded relaxed behavior on the traffic area of the road.

Copy-book truths inspired the faith in a better future.

On the following day, all the inscriptions were naturally erased.
